	Universal Values Competition There are important values that help keep societies afloat, with this in mind IDC has undertaken an important project, UNIVERSAL VALUES COMPETITION, to instill some of these values in our young. Competition consists of following categories: presentation, short story or an essay, painting, skit and a volunteer activity that highlights universal values.

	Public Law Enforcement Issues in a Multicultural Setting Next IDC Luncheon Forum will be held on Wednesday November 12, 2008. Mr. Richard L. Ca�as, Director, New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness will be exploring an important issue: Public Law Enforcement Issues in a Multicultural Setting.

	Intra-Family Violence and Smoking According to Islam IDC�s advisory board member theologian Dr. Ahmet Kurucan wrote about Mr. Fethullah G�len�s opinion on intra-family violence and smoking.

	Interfaith Peace-Building First Abraham's Table Luncheon of this academic year was held at the Matawan Presbyterian Church, Matawan, NJ on Thursday, October 23, 2008. Our three speakers from Abrahamic Religions focused on the issue of "Interfaith Peace-Building through Interfaith Dialogue"

	A new task for Christian-Muslim relations Another IDC Luncheon Forum was held on Wednesday October 22, 2008. Rev. Dr. Hans Ucko explored the Christian Muslim relations in Europe. We focused on Christian Muslim relations in the US in Q&A session.

	North Jersey Dialogue and Unity Dinner IDC held annual North Jersey Dialogue and Unity Dinner on Sunday, September 28, 2008. State and elected officials, religious leaders, academics and civic leaders came together to promote tolerance, peace and dialogue.

	Weaving Peace: What We can Do Monmouth Center for World Religion and Ethical Thought sponsored a panel titled �Weaving Peace: What We can Do� as a part of celebration of the 2008 United Nations Peace Day

	Death of Imam W. D. Muhammad Deeply saddened to learn the death of Imam W. D. Muhammad, we, the Turkish American Muslim Community, offer our heartfelt condolences to all Muslims. He was a pioneer in the Muslim American community.

	Dialogue and Unity Dinner for Ladies On the first Saturday of Holy Ramadan the women of three religions came together to celebrate the month of Ramadan. The program was held in the Carlstadt Center of IDC. The guests had the opportunity of getting to know each other better, enjoyed the delicious Turkish food to break their fasts and realized the bounties of Ramadan.

	Ottoman Cuisine Third BBQ party and lecture was held on Saturday August 16th at 4:00 pm. Our speaker Dr. Mesut Sahin, NJIT made a presentation on "Ottoman Cuisine".

	Intercultural Trip to Turkey Another traditional IDC intercultural trip to Turkey took place between Aug 1st and Aug 11th, 2008. This time IDC hosted a group of educators and a mayor. The group had opportunity to visit some schools, see many historical sites, have dinner with local families, etc. The cities that were included on the trip were Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, Antalya, Konya and Cappadocia.

	Changing Face of Homelessness Second BBQ party and lecture was held on Saturday July 19th at 4:00 pm. Our speaker, Ms. Kate Duggan from Interreligious Fellowship for the Homeless focused on "Changing Face of Homelessness".

	Intercultural Trip to Turkey Another traditional IDC intercultural trip to Turkey took place between July 7th and 17th, 2008. This time IDC hosted a group from law enforcement. The group had opportunity to meet several officials, visit foundations, see many historical sites and have dinner with local families.

The group had opportunity to see many historical sites as well as get to know the Turkish culture very closely. The group also visited a newspaper, a dialogue foundation and a private school in Turkey. The cities that were visited on the trip were Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, Cappadocia and Bursa.

	Faith vs Culture The last Abraham�s Table Dialogue Luncheon this season was held at Congregation Beth Hatikvah at 36 Chatham Road Summit, NJ 07901 on Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Speakers discussed whether faith defines culture or culture defines faith.

	Ottoman Women: Myth and Reality First BBQ party and lecture of this summer was held on Saturday June 14th at 4:00 pm. Mrs. Asli Sancar, author of the book "Ottoman Women: Myth and Reality", was the guest speaker of the day. She gave insight to the Ottoman Women carefully separating the myth from reality.

	IDC Awards Ceremony & Dinner Annual IDC Awards Ceremony was held on June 8th. A large and diverse audience witnessed this wonderful evening. IDC publicly recognizes the outstanding achievements of those recipients who have distinguished themselves in their profession, community and service to humanity and New Jersey community.

	Jesus In The Qur'an Seventh Abraham�s Table Dialogue Luncheon was held at Crosswicks United Methodist Church, Crosswicks, NJ on Thursday May 22nd, 2008. IDC�s executive director Dr. Levent Koc made a presentation about Jesus in the Qur�an. Rabbi Alex Lazarus-Klein and Rev. John Wesley Morrison responded. Despite some differences in the Holy Books, many commonalities was mentioned about Jesus such us chastity of His mother Mary, His miraculous birth, His miracles, submission of His disciples, etc.

	The Artistic Expression of Prayer Sixth Abraham�s Table Dialogue Luncheon in NJ was held at Princeton Seminary, on Thursday May 8th, 2008. Speakers discussed from various their points of view The Artistic Expression of Prayer in Abrahamic Religions.

	5th Anniversary and Newark Office Grand Opening We celebrated IDC�s 5th Anniversary and Newark Office Grand Opening with our friends on Sunday May 4 at 3:00 pm. Many friends, including those who attended the trips to Turkey, were together with us on this happy day.
