Education and Family Values

E-mail Print PDF

IDC made a presentation on “Education and Family Values” at Archdiocese of NY. The presentation was sponsored by the Office of the Vicar General and Turkish Cultural Center, NY.

Clergy and educators from the Archdiocese, including Superintendent of the Schools attended the presentation. Bishop Robert A. Brucato, Vicar General made a welcoming speech in the beginning. After Br. David Carroll’s introduction about Gulen Movement, Mr. Haldun made his speech on education in Gulen Movement. Dr. Levent made the following speech on Family Values. Both speeches clarified again that Islam and Catholic Tradition have a lot in common and both faiths endeavor to raise a generation equipped with universal values.

We thank Bishop Robert A. Brucato, Vicar General for inviting us and his effort to further the dialogue between Catholics and Turkish Muslims. We also thank Rev. Robert Aufieri and Brother David Carroll, F.S.C., Ph.D. for organizing this event.

We hope that the dialogue between Catholics and Turkish Muslims that gained momentum with the Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Turkey, will contribute more to interfaith dialogue worlwide.

Speakers:
Mr. Haldun Yavas, Turkish Cultural Center, NY
Dr. Levent Koc, Interfaith Dialog Center, NJ

Place:
Archdiocese of new York

Date:
March 27, 2007
