'Yes, I Would Love Another Glass Of Tea: An American Woman's Letters to Turkey'

IDC held last "Book Conversation" series of 2010 on Saturday, December 11th the ANT Book Stores & Cafe in Clifton.

Author Katharine Branning, who is also a librarian and an art historian talked about her book titled 'Yes, I would Love Another Glass of Tea: An American Woman's Letters To Turkey'. The Book comprises a series of imaginary letters written to Lady Mary Montagu, whose famous embassy letters were written in 1716-1718 during her stay in Turkey as the wife of the English Ambassador.

Katharine Branning has been visiting Turkey for 30 years, spending a month there every summer. She has been all over Turkey, witnessed all kinds of traditions and met people from all walks life and wealth.

The night was followed by Q & A. She was asked whether the hospitality she had witnessed different or less than Lady Mary Montagu or is there difference between when she went to Turkey first time 30 years ago and now. she answered 'No' by giving examples from Lady Mary Montagu and her own book.

The program was moderated by journalist Aydogan Vatandas. It was a wonderful night.
