Lecture on Easter

IDC has continued to inform Muslim community about Christianity as part of establishing mutual respect and understanding. We hosted Rev. Barbara Lucia of First Presbyterian Church, Rutherford to deliver a speech on Christmas before. We were happy this time to have Rev. Lynne Bleich Weber of The Church of Atonement (Episcopal), Tenafly. She made a presentation on Easter and Lent Season to Turkish American Muslim Community on March 20, 2005.
Rev. Lynne WeberMembers of Turkish American Muslim society from neighborhood were invited. They felt she was well-prepared; she addressed the subject with openness and sensitivity. They thoroughly enjoyed her presentation and found it informative.

She explained every detail in patience such as Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Palm Sunday, Triduum, Vigil of Easter, etc. Many of these terms were new to Muslims.

As she continued her presdentation, audience prepared questions to ask at the question and answer session. After about 40 minutes presentation, Q&A session took place. She was asked questions like:

We thanked her for her valuable speech and gifted her for the memorial of the day a hand made copper plate with Virgin Mary and Jesus engraved.

Warm dialog between Rev. Lyyne and audiences continued after the program. They talked about possible future events and ways of promoting interfaith dialog.
