Abraham's Table Luncheons

IDC will continue organizing Abraham’s Table Luncheons in the 2008-2009 season! As you probably know IDC has been organizing these luncheons, and it has been a tradition since 2006. The luncheons are held in different churches, synagogues or other locations of your preference throughout New Jersey. For more information regarding previous luncheons, please visit http://idcnj.org/announcements/Abrahamstable/.

In an Abraham’s Table Dialogue Luncheon, we generally have three speakers from each Abrahamic religion. Each of the three speakers gives an oral presentation about the topic which is then followed by a Q&A session. IDC takes its share in the luncheon by supplying the food and finding the Muslim speaker. Host place is expected to find Christian and Jewish speakers. IDC and other partners may help finding them. Host place is also expected to supply utensils. As for the theme, host place may choose any theme. You will find a list of sample themes below my signature. The upcoming luncheons are supposed to continue from mid October, 2008 to mid June 2009 on a regular basis.

IDC’s partners in this series of luncheons are
- NJ Council of Churches
- The Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church,
- The Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey
- The Presbytery of the Palisades,
- The Interweave and
- Fellowship in Prayer, Inc.

If you want to contribute by hosting a luncheon or arranging a host church, a synagogue or any other host location, please let us know! Scheduled luncheons will be announced on the IDC website.

By organizing these luncheons, we believe that we show our commitment to promoting mutual understanding, appreciation, and enrichment. We also believe that these luncheons contribute, in their own ways, to America’s continuing celebration of its citizens’ diversity.

If you are interested in hosting a luncheon or helping us find a host place, please contact us by phone at 973-353-9333 or by email at mkirazli(at)idcnj.org.
