5th Annual, Value of Women in our Community

 

Peace Islands Institute (PII) and JFK Pastoral Care Department organized its 5th Annual Program, Value of Women in Our Community, with this year’s theme of Contributions of Women to Visual Arts. Recognition awards were presented to local women artists: Linda LaStella, ceramic artist, and Bingul Sevimli, Ebru artist.

 

This event was held at JFK Medical Center Conference Center on Sunday, April 14th. There were about 200 attendees from the Metuchen-Edison community and from throughout NJ to honor Linda and Bingul.  There were welcome speeches by the Rev. Dr. Annari Griesel, JFK Pastoral Care, and Dr. Nuray Yurt, PII, an exhibition of Ebru art, and a presentation by Linda LaStella of her work. Mr. Tozan, Executive Director of PII, touched on the importance of women artists in the society and how their passion moves us all.  The program was concluded by Turkish live music and exquisite Turkish food.
