On behalf of the Peace Islands Institute, we would like to express our condolences to the South African people for the loss of Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa. We feel deep sadness of the passing of Nelson Mandela and we share your grief.
As a freedom activist, Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the principles of peace, democracy, social justice and equality. Throughout his life, he faced all sorts of challenges and adversity; however, he chose reconciliation over retaliation, and this set an example of a noble act, which earned the respect of world leaders.
As representatives of civil society organizations (NGOs), Mandela had a tremendous impact on our lives from South Africa to across the world. He showed new generations how to tackle with human rights violations and freedoms in life. His philosophy of resolving conflicts through open dialogue and mutual understanding also inspired all of us at the Peace Islands Institute.
As Peace Islands Institute, we believe that Nelson Mandela’s legacy will continue and be carried out from generations to generations who search for peaceful resolutions of conflicts and violence at national, regional and global levels.
