
May 20th 2012, The Congregation Agudath Israel in West Caldwell and Peace Islands Institute organized a concert of Jewish and Muslim musicians. ” Many Voices – One God ” included Amir Vahab and Ensemble, who perform Sufi music, and the Klezmer musician and historian Yale Storm. He was joined by accordionist Peter Stan, who performs a style of klezmer music that has its roots in Turkey.
Mr. Cagatay Pehlivan, a PII representative, spoke about PII and its programs. He spoke about Friendship gatherings, Abraham’s Tables and seminars, conferences, discussion panels that PII organizes because of their influence and great impact on mutual understanding that builds long-lasting friendship.
Phil Kruger of the Congregation Agudath Israel in West Caldwell said ” Our relationship has been strong, There is no reason why we can’t do things togerher. There are plenty of things we have in common. The similarity of religious services. The modesty issue in regard to women. Halal and kashnut are not dramatically different.
