Tuesday, October 16th The PII (Peace Islands Institute) hosted Asm. Upendra J. Chivukula (District 17) in a PII Luncheon. The topics he spoke about were Bullying, Libya, and the Sikh Shootings in Wisconsin.
Asm. Chivukula first spoke about how he’s traveled to different countries to get a better understanding of them.
He spoke about one of the problems America has is people don’t travel a lot, and when you don’t travel your mind isn’t open to new things. He mentioned hate and bias comes from lack of education.
He spoke about Anti-Bullying and Cyber-Bullying and the way to do this is preventing it from happening. He mentioned how there are patrols in some schools watching for any signs of Bullying.
He briefly touched up on the “Wisconsin Sikh Shootings” and Libya and how they are burning the Quran. He said this is all because of lack of understanding. We needed to all be educated It was a wonderful afternoon, we thank Asm Upendra J. Chivukula for his presence.
